Joanna Shoffner Scott, Ph.D.
Principal and Founder

Joanna Shoffner Scott is an experienced management consultant with extensive expertise in racial equity as an organizational practice. She is the founder and principal of Stamey Street Consulting Group, LLC, and is a Senior Consultant with the Race Matters Institute of JustPartners, Inc. Joanna consults with organizations across the country to advance racial equity as a mission-critical goal. She has more than 15 years of experience in research, advocacy, government relations and organizational management. She is an experienced policy analyst in the areas of budget and tax policy, health, and nutrition, with an expertise on the intersection of race and equity in public systems. Joanna is a child advocate. She is passionate about children’s issues and is interested in the ways race show up in educational settings, particularly for young children. Joanna holds a Ph.D. in public policy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.


Anthony Armstong
Senior Consultant

Anthony Armstrong provides planning, support, facilitation, engagement, and technical assistance for issues related to equitable development, organizational change, and community revitalization policy, projects, and programs. As Co-Founder and Partner at Make Communities, a mission-driven consulting firm based in Buffalo, NY, he works with non-profits, foundations, governments, coalitions, and multi-sector networks to help create accessible, equitable, and empowered communities. He works with organizations across the country and at home to advance racial equity through an institutional and policy framework. His focus includes building collaboratives and networks with a race explicit lens, elevating community-based voices, and integrating equity with planning and development.


Annie McKay
Senior Consultant

Previously president and CEO of Kansas Action for Children (KAC), Annie McKay now serves in an independent supporting role to organizations and networks seeking to center equity and inclusion in their internal operations as they pursue strengthening their commitments to racial justice. Annie is a former Rockwood Leadership Fellow, Sunflower Foundation Advocacy Fellow, University of Kansas Women of Distinction honoree, and KHSA Kansas Children’s Champion. Annie’s leadership roles also included serving as an appointed member of the Kansas Children’s Cabinet and the Governor’s Education Council. They earned a Bachelors degree in Social Work from the University of Kansas and an MA from the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration.


Diane Thompson
Operations Consultant

Diane Thompson is an independent Operations Consultant who helps small business owners plan projects, implement them efficiently, and manage the backend processes integral to running a business. She left her ten-year laboratory science career to start her own business and do what she truly loves: helping other people get organized to do what they do with ease! Diane’s greatest strength is her ability to “catch” an idea and make it a reality.
